The original store opened June 2, 1977 located downtown Hartford where the Mineshaft currently is located. The original Camera Case employed Bob Stumpner (the owner), his wife and two part-time salesmen. It has since grown to staff nine sales associates and two managers. The current building was built in 1991 and was one of the first businesses on the east side of Hartford.

Hartford has a lot of culture and natural resources for a city with a population of 13,700. From the Schauer Arts Center to Pike Lake, Hartford is a city that is a great place to live, work, shop, and play in.
